Just a Dream?

Hey everyone!

It’s hard to believe, that this should be the reality. I feel like I dreamed everything about our trip. The amazing things we saw, the fun we had together and you all. Just a dream. Two different worlds and me between them. I’m happy to be back at home, to see my family, tell my friends everything about you and the Arctic, but it hurts to see how uninterested most are in climate change and the future of the Arctic. I can’t understand it. They all do as though erverything is perfect, but it isn’t. I know it and it seems that you are the only ones, who know it, too.

Today in school I told my class everything about the voyage. It’s normal that nearly everybody talks in lessons, but this time everyone listened. I was really surprised, but I think it’s a good sign and maybe (I hope so) they understood what I wanted to say! It’s important that EVERYONE does something against the climate change!

My classteacher allowed Lydia and me to work on the children’s story in Art lessons!

I miss you all soooooo much and every day increasingly!

I hope we’ll see us all soon!

Tot oder Lebendig?

Heute Morgen, bevor wir uns auf den Weg nach Ny Alesund gemacht haben, sind wir mit einem kleinen Schlauchboot an Land gebracht worden und haben einen Spatziergang gemacht. Wir haben jede Menge Knochen gefunden, unter anderen auch einen Wirbelknochen eines Wals, und Fluegel von Voegeln, einen toten, angeknabberten Polar Fuchs und ein totes Renntier, von dem ausser dem Fell, ein paar Knochen und der Kopf nichts mehr uebrig war. Warscheinlich ist es gestuerzt, hat sich das Genick gebrochen und wurde dann von Fuechsen verspeist.

Armes Ding!!

Aber wir haben auch ein lebendes Renntier gesichtet und 15 Minuten, nachdem wir wieder an Bord der Noorderlich waren, kam der Schrei:”Polar bear!”

Alle sind wir an Deck gestuermt ( ich glaube keiner von uns hatte eine Rettungsweste an) und sahen ihn. Den Eisbaeren, wie er unserer Faehrte folgte.

Aber natuerlich hat gerade in diesem Moment meine Kamara gestreickt und ich konnte keine Fotos machen. Aber die anderen haben alle welche gemacht und ich hoffe ihr glaubt mir trotzdem.

Die Norderlicht. Ruhig und friedlich liegt der 2-Mast-Schooner im Hafen von Longyearbyen. Bis gestern. Denn dann kamen wir. Um 6:00 pm starteten wir unsere erste Fahrt nach Trygghamna, was sicherer Hafen bedeutet, wo wir die Nacht verbracht haben. Die See war ruhig und man hatte einen wundervollen Blick ueber die ganzen Schnee bedeckten Berge. Irgendwann am spaeten Abend, kurz bevor wir Trygghamna erreichten, began meine Schicht an Deck und ich habe das Schiff in den Hafen ( wenn man das so nennen konnte) gefahren und eingeparkt. Alle haben mich gelobt. Und da sag noch mal einer “Frauen und einparken!”

Ich hab mich aber nicht wirklich wohl beim lenken des Schiffs gefuehlt, weil ich die ganze Zeit auf einen Eisberg zuhalten musste und dachte, dass wir bald das gleiche Schicksal teilen wie die Titanic! Es ist dann aber Gott sei Dank doch alles gut gegangen. Die Nacht war auch ganz ertraeglich. Die Betten sind zwar ein bisschen klein, genauso wie alles andere hier auf dem Schiff, aber das kann man aushalten!

Willkommen in meinem Blog

Hallo, ich bin es Ina! Auch wenn ich bis jetzt noch nicht in der Arktis war, waren die letzten Tage, hier in London, unglaublich!
Am Sonntag war eine grosse Feier im Southbank Centre, wo wir uns als Teilnehmer der Cape Farewell Youth Expedition 2007, vorgestellt haben. Danach sind wir hinunter an die Themse gegangen, wo wir in Schlauchboote gestiegen sind, mit denen wir vom House of Parlament zur Towerbridge gefahren sind und wieder zurueck. Es war ein unglaubliches Erlebnis. Am Montag haben wir einen Workshop gemacht, wo wir unter anderem unser erstes Video aufgenommen haben und mit einen Englischen Fernsehsender Interviews gefuehrt haben. Ich hoffe es geht genau so spannend weiter wie bisher und wuerde mich sehr freuen, wenn ihr mir bis zum Donnerstag den 13. September alle eure Fragen in meinen Blog schreibt, die ich dann am Freitag den 14. September um 11:00 Uhr ueber live blogging beantworten kann.

Science Project
Katharina’s project is about the climate in Svalbard and how it has changed over the years. She will work with scientists in Svalbard to collect data about air pollutants and carbon dioxide.

Art Project
Katharina hopes to write a children’s story based on the life of a polar bear. She will base it on her research during the voyage and images she brings back.
